The influence of The Hunger Games

Why is archery popular today in the U.S? Because of The Hunger Games, the population of people playing archery is increasing. There are two reasons. First, the heroine of The Hunger Games who is Katniss is a very cool independent young girl, therefore many young girls want to be like her. They start to play archery to be like Katniss. In addition, archery is a less physical and more independent sport. As a result, many young girls can start playing archery easily. Although a girl has never played sports, she can start archery with a bow and arrow. Moreover, for fathers, it is a good way to spend time with their daughters. They can go to shopping, mountains, and practice. They can have the same hobby. For these reasons, the archery practicing population is increasing, because of The Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games vacation in South Carolina

My view on the movie of the Hunger Games

In my opinion, the movie of The Hunger Games is well described work.  Many times, a book made into a movie fails.  Although there are many differences between the book and the movie, we can enjoy both of them in a different way.  For example, it makes sense of the story and effective, though many minor characters are cut.  Also the characters of the movie are well designed specially, Effie Trinket.  She is suitable for a symbol of the people in the Capital, because of her looks and personality.  I am looking forward to seeing a lot of Effie Trinkets on Halloween.  In addition, the actress who played Katniss is very good,  she is perfectly Katniss in my imagination.  In short, the movie of The Hunger Games is good movie, because the casts did great work.

Spring break

My spring break was great.  Our spring break was from March 24 to April 1.  I participated in the  TaB trip to Chicago.  TaB stands for take a break.

 It was a volunteer trip.  There were 14 members in my group which included 12 students and 2 advisers.  Our topic was the immigration issue.  It was very hard for me, because I was not familiar with this topic and most of the members were Willamette University students.  Although I was stressed out when this trip fnished, I got precious friends and memories.  We did many activities to change the bad treatment of immigrants, for example, we did walking and made signs. 

Also we made many sandwiches for the walkers.

 In addition, we discussed how to do walking.  We gave many opinions for the organazation which is the Justice Mission.  Not only did these we do volunteer works but also we listened to many sad stories from immigrants.  Furthermore, we went to the court and watched hearings.  This experience shocked me.  Eventhough these periods were very hard for us, we had fun in other time.  We did many snack parties. We talked and laughed a lot.

 After that, our group did 2 or 3 hours of reflections every night.  Reflections were really hard for me though members devised a way to make me easy to understand and made me feel comfortable to ask questions.  For example, they use easy verb for me when they said their opinions.  It was very helpful to me.  I think my English skills improved because of this time.  Finally, we walked cool downtown and beach in Chicago.

        I baught many souvenirs there.

 I got unforgettable memories and friends through the TaB trip.  I want to make use of this experience in my life. 

Spring Break Podcast

I think the Pow-Wow was very powerful.  According to the pamphlet which I got there, Pow-wows are the Native American people's way of meeting to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old and making new friendships.  First, many Native American dancers came into the Sparks with the performance of big drums. During the opening  ceremony, every spectator stood up.  The musics were played live by 5 or 6 men.  It was very powerful and felt spirits.

The many iron boards were on their costumes.  It was called the Jingle, and made beautiful sounds.  Also they used the feather of the bird for the hair ornament.

Their dance was very unique, and interesting for me.  I think it express birds.  I want to know why they are dancing like a bird. Even small children was dancing very well.  I surprised.  The long-haired people of hair were braiding hair.  Since I took a picture with a Native American woman, I am glad.

During the opening ceremony, things like intense sticks is burned.  I smelled it.  Dancers covered with it.  It is like Japanese custom.  In conclude, there is many interesting point and several similarity between Pow-wow and Japanese custom, so I want to know about their history more.
